If you’ve followed my work for any amount of time, you know that I absolutely geek out every time I get the chance to explore a new castle ruin! There’s something about the history of these majestic structures—what they once were and how grand they must have been—that truly fascinates me. I can’t help but try to imagine what it was like to live there, how different life must have been for our ancestors compared to our fast-paced modern lives. Another reason I’m drawn to castles is that they’re often located in some of the most picturesque places, offering incredible views that make them even more magical.
Rocca Calascio, located in Italy, is undoubtedly one of the highest and most awe-inspiring castles I’ve ever had the privilege of visiting. Perched on a mountaintop, it offers sweeping, panoramic views of the surrounding landscape that make it an unforgettable location. As an elopement photographer, I thrive on capturing couples in unique and dramatic settings, and Rocca Calascio was the perfect backdrop for such an intimate occasion.
